Dewpoint Innovations is working to combat climate change through the development of novel coatings which allow for passive cooling and atmospheric water collection.
The world is facing increasing temperatures and severe water shortages.
Our mission is to ensure global, pervasive adoption of our cost-effective, equitably accessible coatings systems that combat drought and heatwaves.
Climate change has led to rising temperatures and water scarcity.
We are seeing an unprecedented increase in temperatures globally.
This is exacerbated in urban areas causing an urban heat island effect, where urban city temperatures are recording up to 4°C warmer than rural areas.
The UN have also warned that by 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population is expected to face water shortages. (UN, 2016)
Our Solution
Dewpoint Innovations is developing a next-generation, dual-function coating that, when facing the sky, both passively cools the surface it coats and collects water from the atmosphere through condensation on that surface.
Dewpoint’s novel coating is highly reflective and emissive, which enables the coating to cool the underlying material to temperatures below ambient and to drive atmospheric water condensation, under a significant range of environmental conditions.
Dewpoint Innovations is a start-up company borne out of research by Prof Chiara Neto, Prof Martijn de Sterke and Dr Ming Chiu at the University of Sydney.
